M1 - Explain the use of lighting and camera setting in the context of the plan you have created

In this post I will discuss the lighting and camera types and settings I will use to capture industry quality footage for my music video. For the lighting of our music video, we will film in the lecture theatre as the room is dark with lights off and blinds down. We can eliminate most natural light to ensure the room is dark enough. We will use LED lights to create the desired lighting, using 3 point lighting (a key light, fill light and a backlight)  as  three point setup includes a key light, a fill light and a backlight).  The key light is placed in front of the subject and is the brightest light. The camera is placed close to the key light to get the central position of the subject and the camera may be placed at eye level. It is better to choose a light that has different temperature settings, intensity and control as it will give better results. This helps to account for skin tones and different backgrounds. 45 degrees is an ideal angle for the key light setup.   The fill light

M2: Ensure footage reflects generic conventions

Cinematic footage: The genre of Alien Superstar falls under contemporary R&B. Contemporary R&B music videos are known for their cinematic qualities, such as lighting, shot types and camera angles, that enhance their visual appeal and storytelling impact. One of these qualities is high production value, which often includes elaborate sets, special effects, and intricate camera work. These elements work together to create a visually stunning and memorable experience for the viewer. Another cinematic quality that many R&B music videos exhibit is narrative storytelling. Through the use of cinematic techniques such as flashbacks, jump cuts, and nonlinear editing, many R&B music videos tell a story through the visuals. This approach helps to create a sense of continuity and coherence in the narrative, which can be emotionally engaging for the viewer. Mood and atmosphere are also important cinematic qualities in contemporary R&B music videos. Lighting, color grading, and o

P2 - Describe the settings for different camera types to achieve cinematic quality footage

Frame rate     What is frame rate? Frame Rate is the number of frames/images per second that make up a video. It is measured as FPS where the higher the frame rate and fluid motions. The standard frame rate for movies and cinematics such as slow motion is 24FPS, however 30FPS and 60FPS is standard for TV & games. Video game frame rate varies to platform and hardware, but typically is between 30 and 240FPS or higher if playing on uncapped frame rate. How to adjust frame rate? To change a frame rate of a video you can right-click on a video file and choose properties. Also, you can use a video player that displays information. You should change your frame rate depending what the video is for. For example, if your original video is 30FPS and you want to slow it down, you can change it to 24FPS. The best way to change video frame rate is by using editing  software.     Look at several frame rates and explain why they may be used? (16, 24, 30, 60) ISO / Aperture ISO and aperture are es

Annotate diagrams or videos Three point lighting: This was taken using a three point lighting setup. A three point setup includes a key light, a fill light and a backlight. In this picture, the camera would be placed in between the key light (on the left) and the fill light on the right where the fill light would be almost a 45 degree angle. This would be great as it would shine directly on the front of the subject and be balanced by filling in the subjects face. The light on the left would work as a backlight to create light around the subj

Rushes of lighting Three point lighting: Three-point lighting is a common technique used in cinematography and photography that involves the use of three different light sources to illuminate a subject or scene. The three lights are called the key light, the fill light, and the backlight. Each light has a specific purpose and placement, and together they can create a wide range of lighting effects. The key light is the primary light source and is positioned to the side of the subject, usually at a 45-degree angle. This light provides the main source of illumination and helps define the shape and form of the subject. The key light can be adjusted to be more or less intense, and its angle can be adjusted to create different shadows and highlights.  The fill light is placed on the opposite side of the key light, also at a 45-degree angle. The purpose of the fill light is to soften the shadows created by the key light, making the overall lighting more balanced and even. The fill light is
